Hi all,
I am on a TN currently and approved for H1-b effective Oct 1. I have been reading posts here and on other forums with regards to going from TN status to H1-b. I understand that, when in the US for the change, it is seamless, but I haven't been able to find documentation confirming that a pending 485 will not be jeopardized by that change in status. I obviously want to take advantage of the visa # window, I just want to be sure there isn't some minute period in the eyes of the USCIS where there is a transfer from "Temporary" status to "dual intent"? I would appreciate any imput on this topic. Thanks in advance, and for all the other info I've picked up here in the past!

No problem. As long as you remain in US from the time you submit I-485 until Oct01, 07 you are in valid TN status, and your I-485 submission remains viable.

On Oct 01, you will automatically becomw h1.

After Oct 01, you are free to travel, since h1 allows for leaving US with abandonning your I-485 (much like AP documant allows). TN does NOT allow for this.
