TN to H1B transfer at Detriot Tunnel

Friends,

I am a Canadian Citizen and currently on TN visa in US, I have got I-797 approval letter without I-94 attached. I am planning to go to Detriot Tunnel in first week of October to Activate my H1B visa and get new I-94.

Can you please advise, is it safe to go on weekend ( Saturday / Sunday) and can you please advise which documents are required for H1B new I-94.

Any other option to new I-94 for H1B beides Detriot Tunnel, for example Buffalo etc ?

I am planning to take

- Passport
- I-797 approval letter
- h1B petition
- Pay Stubbs

will appreciate your help,

Would anyone like to share his/her experience for similar situation ? I never worked on H1B visa before so trying to get more prepared ,

You only need your I-797 and passport. The petition is pointless.Its approved and border can't do anything to change that.
pay stubs are meaningless, this is considered a new job. You could take the current one or your work badge if you wish, just to show that you were still in valid TN, but that should be something you carry anyways, not specifically to chnge status.

So it will be matter of issuing of new I-94, not whole stressful process, we normally face during TN adjudication ( new / existing).
