TN support letter always delayed by the company

I am Canadian citizen. I am waiting for company's TN support letter to go to the border to apply for TN 1 visa. The company has completed the background check and drug test. To apply for TN 1 visa at the border, I have been waiting for company's TN support letter for two weeks. My start date has been postphoned twice. Each time they said that they needed some time for internal processing for TN support letter. My initial start date was Sep 24th, later on, they said that TN support was not ready, they changed to Oct, 1st. Today, they replied to me again that they are still processing that, they suggested to change my start date to Oct, 8th. I have two questions here: First, does TN support letter take more that two weeks for the company? Second, now NAFTA renegotiation might keep Canada out. Oct 1st is the deadline for text of possible Us-Mexico bilateral agreement for congress review. Does my company intentionally to wait for some timeline or important announcement from government to avoid some risks to the company?

Sure. a lawyer and 10 minutes. What are they waiting for.
They just replied that they need some time for processing since recruiter claimed that large companies are very slow for internal processing. What I really worry is whether they are waiting for NAFTA outcome.

Look. They got your testing and background check. They could have gotten letter even faster. Time to look elsewhere.

So really frustrating if so. I could have applied for TN visa already if I had gone with another company. But if at this point that NAFTA might keep Canada out, they are reluctant to move on. they have already killed my opportunity.

Don't worry about what might happen with NAFTA. It's a waste of time. right now Canada-USA NAFTA is business as usual.

I agree that it's time to at least look at other opportunities. If they're this difficult about such a straightforward letter, who knows what other problems they'll present to you in the future.

The last time a company was getting weird about the TN letter, I basically said their lawyers were idiots and they could either sign the letter I prepared myself, or get their lawyers in line, or I'm walking. They decided to have the CEO give the law firm a stern rebuke, and I got apologies from people all the way up the management hierarchy.

Amen. Some TNers think they need to apologize for having the sponsor so a couple of extra steps. As grant says, its the sponsor -- who need you -- that should be apologetic when the screw up.
