TN Status vs. L2 with EAD

My wife and I are Canadian Citizens, recently moved to the US. I am on an L1A Visa, and she has an L2.

We are putting together the application for her EAD under L2, but recently got some advice to consider a TN for her instead, since she is an Engineer looking for Engineering jobs.

What are the pros/cons of either option? As I see it:
- TN Status is much cheaper ($50 vs. $410)
- TN Status is much faster (for a Canadian, just petition at the border with potential to get approved immediately, vs. 4-5 month processing time for EAD under L2).

Trying to figure out if we should apply for the EAD, or just wait till she gets a job and then try to secure TN. Does there tend to be high risk of rejection for Canadian Citizens who are Engineers applying for TN?

Thanks in advance!

The EAD would allow her to work anywhere, in any job, and would not require any sponsorship. She can also start any business she wants on EAD, as well as hold down an engineering job. It is more freedom than even you currently have on L1. TN is restricted to engineering jobs.
A proper petition for an engineering job will always be approved.
Personally, I would apply for EAD and look for TN job, and then switch to using EAD when it comes in, whether still looking for work or already on the job.
