TN Status - Renewing (Canadian)

Hi - Would appreciate if any guidance can be provided. I am planning to apply / renew my current TN status which is set to expire next month. I am in process of receiving documents from my employer for my status renewal.
Question is if I need to make an appointment in advance for TN interview or can walk-in at the POE in Buffalo / Peace bridge or Lewiston. Recently, i have heard that they require appointments in advance. Additionally, since i am working currently so planning to go on the weekend (does it matter)?.
Also how early i can apply for TN renewal at the POE. My status will expire first week of September.

Thank you

You do not need an appointment, but should go during business hours. Weekends are busy with tourists, and the TN specialist may not be there. Your sponsor should consider that your getting your work authorization is part of your job, so paid time off during the week should not be a problem for them. You should have no problem going anytime you are ready at this point.

I had to book an appointment for TN renewal as per CBP they dont take walk ins. I did my TN interview a few weeks ago and was granted renewal for another 3 years.

I see on website, updated Aug 2, 2023, it says appointments for TN and L Visas, and gives a phone #. Is requiring appointments something new? Has not been a requirement when I last did this (3 years ago). I go to the Peace Bridge (Buffalo). To irfcanada2020, did you call or email to get an appointment, and how soon were you able to get one? Did this process make it faster? (I have waited a couple hours in the past, even during business hours).
To everyone else, is flag-poling (coming from US, turning right around at Canadian border) still allowed?

Thanks and this number worked for me last week. Please leave a message as well. You may have to keep calling multiple times until somebody picks up the phone. This was my experience. CBP@Buffalo @ 716-843-8521

If you actually go into Canada, and then return to US, this is NOT flag-polling. The CBSA allows flag-polling in the other direction (leave Canada but not enter US, to avoid any contact with US immigration). Whether US allows it is possible, but doesn't apply in your case. You are allowed into Canada.

Just a quick update on the appointment vs. walk ins. I called and booked an appointment but earliest was 2 weeks out at Buffalo, with the 2 niagara bridges 1 week out. The officer on the phone said this policy changed about 2 years ago, and if I tried a walk in I would be sent back and told to book an appointment.
