TN status renewal question

I will be on my 2nd TN with the same employer. TN offer letter says it is a Tn-1 extension application for me. I read that Every TN is treated as a new application. Should the letter say TN-1 extension or should they just omit all reference to extension like what the law firm did for the first TN?

Also I will be getting my TN Oct 29th. My first TN expires Nov 3rd. Should the letter say the start date of employment Nov 4th or Oct 30th?
 
The letter referring to your previous TN is not harmful.

It should not have any start date, it should merley state "for 3 years". You show up and they issue TN for 3 years from that date. But id it has adtae, it should be the day you arrive at POE. See why you don't put date?
