I am a Canadian on a valid TN visa. Another employer is willing to hire me ASAP for a second part-time job. I know an I-129 has to be submitted. What's the fastest way to do this? Thanks!

I-129 is to be submitted only for the mail-in TN. But the fastest route is applying at the United States POE.

I understand that the I-129 would take upto 3 months by mail--do you have any idea what the timeline is if i apply at a POE? Any idea where the closest one is in South Florida?

I-129 with Premium processing is 15 days - costs $1000 extra. Getting TN at the POE is about 30 to 45 minutes max. Others might comment about the closest POE.

The closest POE to south florida is in... south Florida of course, and can be entered by a day-trip to Bahamas, like from FtLauderdale

Other than that it is a flight out of US, and then return, or last resort drive to Canada or mexican border.

I am new to this (in US for 3 months) so pardon my inexperience. So, if I take a day trip to the Bahamas upon return, at the POE would I then be applying for a) another (i.e, new TN); b) or extend my present TN? Can my current TN be revoked--leaving me with none, if I mess up the application? Is it then issued on the spot?

Second, is there any advantage to applying on by mail using I-129? It takes so long! Thanks for your responsese so far. This can be an isolating process.

-- Every TN is a technically, a new TN. There is no TN "extension".

-- Yes, the current TN that the person has can be revoked.

-- TN is issued on the spot at the POE.

-- Yes, it saves a trip to the border.

Every border TN is a new TN; one can indeed extend a TN, but only by mail. In the case you are talking about however, it is a new TN in any event.

As to revocation of an existing TN, this would only be under unusual circumstances, if it was found that you had never been qualified for TN, or if you were otherwise found inadmissable. But merely submitting a petition for a new TN in which there is some deficiency that prevents issue, would not result in revocation of your current one.

So, I would need to leave US soil, re-enter and apply for the second TN as I had done with my current TN. Exact procedure? Bring all the relevant documentation, pay the $50.00 fee yada, yada? If I am successful, I do not need to submit the I -129?

What would an I-129 serve? You have your 2nd TN at that point.

You would only need to think anbout I-129 when TN #1 is nearing expiry.
