Hi,

I have got some questions regading my TN renewal.

1> My TN is expiring on Oct 23rd. Will it be ok if I mail my renewal application tomorrow (10/10/07)?

2> For I-129, Part 2, Nonimmigrant classification will be "TN"? And, Petition receipt # and Prior petition will be 'N/A"?

3> For I-129, Part 4, what is "Type of Office" and other related information?

4> If I understand correctly, the required documents are original(or copy?) I-94, copy of passport, copy of degree and Job offer letter. Pl.
let me know if anything else is required.

5> Is the fee $185 or $190?

6> Does it take more than 3 months to get new I-94? And, meantime, can we visit Canada or not?

This is the first time I'll be renewing TN through mail.

Thanks a lot in advance.

You can send it in by tommorow and you can also do e-filing(your company has to open an account with uscis then they can fill in the forms or give you the sign in infor and you do it and pay with cc)
The field is TN with the same employer,
Type of business
You can even do it for your wife right there.
You have to wait 3-4 months and can travel as long as the old one is still valid, when it expires then you have to get one from the border when returning.
If you will be visiting then why dont you go and get one at the border to avoid the 3 months wait and save some $$. It all depend on how well prepared you are.
You also need copy of I-94 with copies of pp and degrees and original letter from company(You know that the company is petitioning for you-they are suppose to apply for you)

Thanks for quick reply.

Yes, I know that, my employer has to apply on behalf of me, if I file thorugh mail.

I think, going to border will be better option. 3 months without I-94 would be too much for me. It is just that, I wanted to get it done without facing any "human".

I would not worry about the I-94 as long as you have your I-129 receipt. Your status is TN pending.

The mail-in fee is now $320.

you may need an I-94 to renew a driver's license, etc, so that may be a consideration.

if you do go to the border instead, you need to go before the 23rd.

If you leave US and try to enter before I-129 is approved, you will have to apply for a TN at the entry point. the mail-in will only have served to keep you in status, and would then be cancelled.
