TN renewal for 3 years at EL paso ( US- Mexico border)

HI,
I am working in Dallas and thinking of making a trip to the EL paso (US- Mexico border) for getting my TN renewal for 3 years. Reason I am flying there is because I need my TN renewed quicker so that my wife can apply for her TD visa at the US consulate overseas the same week, my current TN expires next month on the 12th.

Can any one tell me how this port of entry is for TN renewals? Are they well informed about TN renewals for Canadians at this border? Secondly, do I need a Mexican visa to go to Mexico? Is this the closest and safest port of entry?

Any suggestions and sharing of experience at this border will be highly appreciated.

You do not need visa to visit mexico. Your spouse might, based on her nationality.

TNs are issued at the mexican border to Cdns. I suggest you phone the POE as you might need an appointment.


I would not consider any area near a Mex-border POE safe at this time. Would you?
 
Thanks Nelson. By safer I mean safer in not getting denied? i will try to stay within one mile from the border to be safe from the other dangers.
