TN Mail In Approved

Just got email notification that my TN1 extension was approved, guess I should have the notice in a few days.

Receipt date: May 14th
Approval date: Aug 28th

Slower than some of the others but fine, good luck to everyone else waiting on extensions.

P.S.

This was my 8th concurrent TN with a single employer, started working on June 1st 2000 and been here ever since. Don't let anyone tell you this can't be done.

Hi THE JACKER
We have very close mailed in date. I mailed beginning of May and receipt on May-15th. Till now, Sept 4th I didn't hear anything! Is that normal?
I processed this extension through lawyer office, not electroniclly. Is that the reason I get it slow?
Anybody knows the reason? I am so worry! Am I possible be rejected?

Hi John,
Can you tell me the process step using electronic? Do you use it through a lawyer or yourself? I want to learn how and maybe I can do samething next year!
BTW, how come your receipt date is later than me but you get approval already? Am I possibily be rejected?
So worry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Hi Karie,

I essentially did everything myself. In my two in person TN's and now my 1 mail-in TN, I have never used a lawyer so I would not know how to go about going through a lawyer. Nor have I done it electronically. I did it regularly by sending paper through snail-mail.

I drafted the TN renewal / job letter myself, filled in all of the I-129 form and TN supplement (with the exception of the employer parts like signature, gross income, federal employer ID# etc), assembled the documents (copy of diploma, supervisors engineering license, copy of I-94 front & back, copy of passport etc etc), created a cover sheet detailing the contents of the I-129 TN renewal package and heck, I even paid the $190 fee myself. And I am under the Scientific Technician (Engineering) occupation which is one of the more scrutinized occupations in the TN list.

I would assume that if you are using a lawyer that he/she would be competent in submitting an air-tight package and therefore, should not be worrying so much. TN renewals vary in approval timeline range. I would not worry until I got an RFE or an actual denial. But like I said, you utilized and paid for a lawyer, I would'nt worry too much if I were in your shoes.

Most of the time it depends on the USCIS person reviewing your package and i'm sure that's the case. It could just be that the person is taking his/her time going over your package. Processing times as seen on the USCIS website are general in nature and just give you a rough timeline.

All you can do is sit tight and let everything fall together. If your lawyer is competent, i'm sure you will get approved. What's the expiry date on your current TN I-94?

Hi John,
Thanks a lot about sharing your experience. I'll try to file next extension myself.
After I left message to you I checked my status of extension to immigration website. It is good news! I got the approval Aug. 31st and they notified me by email as well. I am so happy and I am able to visit my parents on Nov. in Taiwan.
BTW, I just read article about immgriation reform from whitehouse, please check link: http://www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/immigration/ see number 20. We may have change to get TN term into 3 years. I hope my next one is three year and I don't have to do this over and over again for each year.

For Canadian advantage, have you heard anything like we can apply under category "L" instead of H-1?

Karie

Hey guys,

I wanted to bump up a thread I made about I-129 Mail-In TN renewals but it has disappeared so I will create this thread.

I sent in my I-129 to renew my TN status (which was expiring July 26, 2007)to the Vermont Service Center on May 24, 2007. The receipt date was May 29, 2007. I got an email notification today (July 31, 2007) that my I-129 Petition for a Nonimmigrant worker was approved and that an approval notice was sent so for anybody who may have filed an I-129 around the same time I did, hopefully you will hear something too.

Oddly enough, my I-129 was approved today, on the same day as my 1 year anniversary with this particular company.

My TN category is Scientific Technician (Engineering).

Take Care,

John

Congrats let's hope the 3 year TN comes along by your next renewal date!
