I live in Montreal, QC and have received a job offer in Burlington, VT.
The position potentially falls under the TN job category of social work, and involves working as a social worker in case management for a non-profit agency serving the homeless and underhoused. A social work degree is not required for this position, and it is not necessary for me to be a registered social worker in the State of Vermont to fill this position.
I have an honours (4-yr) degree in the social sciences (sociology), not a BSW (Bachelor of Social Work) degree. As mentioned, a BSW is not necessary for the position I've been offered.
I have close to ten years experience working with the homeless and underhoused at various non-profit agencies, and this is reflected in my resume. A social work degree was not necessary to do this work.
I have done the work of a social worker, but do not have a degree in social work, but in the social sciences.
In the opinion of the posters to this site, will I still qualify for TN status?
I am thinking that if the position title indicates that it is a social work position, and if the average person (including border personnel) doesn't usually know the difference between social work and the social sciences, and given my past employment experience, I should have a good chance of qualifying.
