TN delayed start date

Hi folks,

I am a Canadian and relocated to Seattle on TN. The employer inform me that the start date will be delayed for 2 weeks from the one in offer due to delayed background check on their side (although they apologize for it - they never mentioned it before I came, information provided months ago) . I would like to know if this affect my TN status? Can I come back to Canada in the mean time?

You are fine. You still have a relationship with your sponsor, and it understandable that there may be a vetting period after hiring (for licensing, etc).
As an aside, they should probably be paying you due to their oversight.
