TN-1 to GC on EB-2

Wondering if anyone has gone straight from a TN-1 to GC on EB2 without going to H1 first?

I hear that TN-1 to GC route can backfire. Getting a H1 first safer option.

Would like to hear from others who have been in similar situation.
