Tired of waiting...Is Canada immigration an idea?

Hi,
I'm thinking in terms of starting Canada Immigration in parallel with my 485 application which is pending for the past 1 year. Do you think this can cause any problem in my Green Card Process?
Also, is there any foreseeable problem in the Citizenship?

A friend of mine had applied for the canadian "white card" and he started his 485 process too. His white card was approved, but he didn't go for it, because in order to get the final white card, he had to stay in canada for 6 months. He had to have an address there, and he had to proove that he was physically in canada for 6 months atlesat (non-stop)
This is what his situation was 2 years ago. I don't know if the laws have changed or not.

Another question: How is canadian immigration going to help you? I mean you can legally work in US with your EAD, and all, right?

guju,

I got Canadian PR back in 2001. I went there for 7 days and came back. You can do it just for back up but your US GC is already in process. If you think that you will get your US GC approval today or tomorrow then why you want to spend $3000-5000 for Canadian PR! With new rule, you can stay outside Canada for 3 years in a five years period and it will take 8-12 months to get approval.

Canada has no jobs in IT or other field they have only Labor jobs CDN 7/8per hour, don’t waste your money for immigrating to Canada

Have you thought of entering yourself for DV Visa by U.S. Department of State instead? I did. :)

Here is the link:

http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/

Many countries don't qualify to participate in DV Visa.

"For DV-2005, natives of the following countries are not eligible to apply because they sent a total of more than 50,000 immigrants to the U.S. in the previous five years:

CANADA, CHINA (mainland-born), COLOMBIA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, EL SALVADOR, HAITI, INDIA, JAMAICA, MEXICO, PAKISTAN, PHILIPPINES, RUSSIA, SOUTH KOREA, UNITED KINGDOM (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and VIETNAM. Persons born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and Taiwan are eligible. "

thanks for bringing it to my attention. i didn't really pay much attention to the fact that many countries are not eligible to go for DV-2005.

I am not sure which country you are from, tightwait, but if you are not from any of the countries listed on ineligible countries, you should give it a try.
