Hi all,
I have heard from my lawyer that if you are planning to get married shortly after the filing of i140 it is better to wait and file both i140 and i485 together. That way BCIS receives both the applications together and there is no confusion about mapping the 2 applications together.
At present i140 is taking 12 -14 months for approval in TX, while we need to only wait for 180 days past the i485 application. I would rather file i140 as soon as my labor is approved since we are not yet married and file i485 after a couple of months. This way we will be able to enjoy portability at the earliest possible.
Would you recommend I go ahead and file these seperately or would you rather I wait and file these together?
Please share your experiences/thoughts.
Thanks,
MS
