Time to get plastic card

I received a mail (postal) yesterday stating that my and my wife's I-485 have been approved (I-797 welcome notice). The notice date is July 18. There is no update on the USCIS status webpage. It shows the last information about RFE reply received. I also received an email from an officer in USCIS on July 19 that our applications were approved.

Any reasons why the internet tracking information is not updated? How much time is it taking to get the physical card now?

Can you please post your case details (RD,ND, where your application was submitted-Texas,Nebraska etc)
 
This was at NSC (originally CSC). I do not know what RD, ND means - I am not a regular on this forum.

My lawyer says that the internet portal is often not updated on time. It has happened on my EAD once before that the status was never updated but I got the card.

The mail from the immigration officer was in reply to a name check enquiry I had submitted ages back. He replied saying that our green cards were approved.
 
Congrats.

RD means a Receipt Date - the Date when USCIS received your application.
ND is Notice Date- the Date on which the notice was issued.

RD: Sep. 2004 (concurrent filing in EB2)
RFE: April 2007
ND: July 18, 2007

Does anyone know the amount of time it is taking to get the card now? Also, any reason why the internet site would not be updated even after the I797 form with approval is received?
 
DO any of you know, if I go to get my I551 stamp, whether the officer will ask me for proof of emergency travel for which I need this stamp?

I am in the same boat as you. I got my approval letter on 3rd July by snail mail. But no automated emails as well as status update online. I went to Infopass last week to inquire when do I expect actual card. They said I should get soon and they also stamped my passport for 6 months.

Can you tell me whether for the passport stamping I have to go to the Calfornia Service Center in LA or the local office that does fingerprinting?

You have to take Infopass appointment and go to the office mentioned in your appointment. It may be same as your fingerprinting office but it doesn't have to be. And you do not need to go to CSC.
 
What reason did you give about why you want the I-551 stamp? My attorney tells me that they sometimes ask for proof of imminent travel.

I have an upcoming international trip coming up for which I need to apply for a visa. For that I need my status. Also, I would like to keep open the possibility of traveling outside the country in case of some emergency back home. Further, it would be better to have this as proof of employment.
