Time spent out of the US on a US based school

guys,
I am a Caribbean medical student. The university I go to is a US based school. Do I get to count my stay at that school as time spent out of the US or inside for my USC application? I realize the rule is "employment" by a US based company's time as counted in the US. I have maintained my "continuous" presence in the US thus so far.

Anyway, I would appreciate if someone can clear some rumors I am hearing. thnx
 
Unless those schools are in US territory like Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands, time spent studying there is time outside the US.
