Time recapture for business trips on H1.

I first came to the US on H1 in Aug 2000 and and my employer sent me on a long term project to Europe. I was in Europe till July 2003. During this period I was in the US for a total duration of 6 weeks at different intervals mainly for my European Visa Extensions. My employer was running my payroll in the US and I also filed my tax returns in the US. Logically my 6 year period on H1 ends in Aug 2006. I wanted to check if I am eligible to recapture the time that I spent outside the country ( Sep 2000 - July 2003 ). If yes, what documents are required to substantiate my claim for the time recapture. Please let me know.

Thanks.

Although a lot of people successfully recaptured the time spent out of the US for vacation or business trip or other reason, to be strict, the time you spent out of the US with maintaining tie with H1 employment is not subject to be recaptured.
But as I said, people succeeds to get recapture, so you can try.

You need to provide travel history when you file extension or renewal
and claim that period to add to your extended period. No special document is necessary.
