Time period for receiving receipts?

My lawyer just filed our 485/EAD/AP applications with Vermont last week.
How long it usually takes for INS to issue receipts? I have a travel coming up in end of May and i have a valid H1. Lawyer says i need to have receipts of 485 filing before leaving the country. I was told receipts arrives in 3 to 4 weeks. Any one has first hand knowledege of this? Also do i need receipts for leaving the country?
 
Your attorney should be kidding right? Why would you need the 485 receipts when you are travelling on valid H1. I dont think so.

Double check with some other attorney.

Read the above link for exact details. So the attorney is not kidding..

"Applicants for adjustment who use their non-immigrant visas to travel should also take abroad with them the filing receipts for their adjustment of status applications, according to the INS rule"
 
we noticed in feb/ march there was delay to get receipts.

How is the trend now a days. My friened filed in this week(April).

how long he has to wait for receipts. any ideas?

she did not received any after 5 days aso

any one received after Bi specilization 4/1/6 filers?
