Time Line ie..Interview Notice to Interview Date?

The Appointments and Interviews section of the Sub Office's About Us page says that they send out the AOS interview notices 4 to 6 weeks in advance. However reading from the people on this forum who posted their interview letter received date and their interview date, I have noticed that it is close to 8 weeks before the interview date that they received the letter. Hope this helps.

Cherr, sometimes it might be relevant, like for us (my husband and I), as we are planning to visit his parents in India in Oct. Since it is cheaper to buy air tickets in advance, yet, we don't want our interview to fall during our vacation, we are planning to wait until Sep, before buying tickets. If we don't receive our interview letter by then, our interview would most likely be around end of Oct or early Nov, by which time we'd be back. Ofcourse we'd make the final decision whether or not to go on that vacation in late Sep and may even decide against it in the interest of making sure we are available here for interview :)

Been in similar situation. I would say don't wait anylonger, go right away if there is no more appointments before the AOS interview. Have a close frieng of yours check your mail. If an AOS does come during your visit, you would at least know the date of your interview and perhaps come back by then. I wouldn't let my parents wait on USCIS. Just my two cents.

Thanks. You are right, I wouldn't want to wait for USCIS either. In fact it seems that by applying for a GC, we let a part of our lives to be controlled by USCIS ~sigh~. However, we have a couple other reasons for waiting until Sep. First - his vacation is due in Sep/Oct, second, we want to visit in Oct as there's a special ocassion. We were wondering if we should book our tickets already, but then, we wouldn't want to jeopardize our interview, should it fall in Oct and we are already abroad.

For now we are playing the wait n watch game... if the interview happens before Sep - great, else if we get the letter by Aug that would mean the interview most likely in Oct - not good, if the letter hasn't come until mid Sep - we are (most likely) clear for Oct. Even though we will have to spend more on the tickets in Sep as compared to if we buy them now, but then, I've heard that the rescheduling delays it by more than a few months.

$$ Just hoping that the interview happens before or in Sep itself :D

I had same problem. I had to fly to attend my sister's wedding and had bought my tickets well in advance (mid nov). 2 weeks after i bought my tickets, i got the interview notice (end nov) and that was so unexpected. I had booked my return flight back to the US on Feb 4th and luckily, the interview was scheduled for Feb 8th. That was a very short notice but i guess it worked out and i dint have to change my return date eventhough 3 days were too short to be fully prepared for the interview. In between the time shortage and fighting jetlag, we did pull through with our preparations and i guess it paid off :D

I remember reading your interview experience (on the day you posted it) and remember that you had mentioned about having just 3 days to prepare and that the officer questioned your I-94 number not matching the current :p. You did a FANTASTIC job of arranging all those documents in different folders - Monkish - are you? loll.

I hope that we either get done n over with our interview before Sep, but if it doesn't happen by then, I would want it to wait for another 2 months. I seriously hope it doesn't fall in Oct :(. Wonder how fast San Jose is moving... and how long after the FP does it take to get the interview letter . With the DOs speeding up these days, its difficult to estimate on the basis of the timelines of last year.
