I applied at the San Jose office on July 31/03, sponsored by my American husband. I am a Canadian citizen.

Aug 28/03 appointment to receive EAD (took about 10 minutes)

Aug 29/03 fingerprinting (took about 15 minutes)

Sept 18/03 received Social Security # and card (had to wait 20 days to apply for card, until SS confirmed I was in the system, the SS office wanted to take my EAD card and "snail mail" my info to immigration office, I refused and made 4 trips back to the SS office until finally I appeared on their computer. They stated it would take up to 60 days to get confirmation through mail, so it is better to just keep going back to your closest SS office instead of giving them your information, at least it worked out well for me)

Dec 17/03 interview scheduled for AOS

So far everything has gone smoothly. I never received any # except for the "A" number on my receipt when we paid the fees.

I received a letter with my appointment time and a complete check list of documents and the number of copies I need to bring to the interview. We have been married longer than two years, so I am expecting any restrictions that would normally apply to be removed from my AOS.
