Time limit on Revalidation of H1B after status change from L1-A

Hi,

I came on L1-A in June 2003 and then joined another company through which I got H1-B approval. The new I-94 is valid till January 2007. But the stamping on the passport got expired in June 2004.

I understand that to revalidate the change of status from L1-A to H1-B, one has to stamp within 12 months of the expiry date in the passport. That is, I have to revalidate before June 2005 failing which I have to apply for a fresh H1-B if I travel outside US.

My question is whether due to status change the revalidation period of 12 months after the expiry date in passport still holds good or one can travel anytime later than that for revaidation? Can anybody tell me the latest rules.

Thanks
Janaram
