Hi guys,

Just wondering if someone can help me out. I have applied for the DV 2011 lottery and im wondering how long we have from when we find out we have been successful (get a letter) to when we have to have an interview?

I have read that we need to have all our documents like medicals and police checks and proof of funds by the interview date to take with us..however i was wondering how long it generally takes to get an interview.

I have never applied for the lottery before now and dont want to get my hopes up too much, but i would like to at least be somewhat prepared(especially with the 10k minimum in the bank situation)

Thanks!
Mandy

It takes about 5-16 months depending on your case number. Let's assume that you win and receives your winning notification in May 2010, interview for the dv-2011 will start from October 2010 to September 2011. So just do the math!

Thanks for your answer :)
That's a relief..wasn't sure if they started interviewing straight away or not.
At least that's enough time to prepare!

You can also look at the signature under neath peoples post and look at the dates to see what their time lines were....

If you do CP the time line can be shorter than AOS and it also depends on your case# that is awarded to the winner...with a low number the interview will be likely in the first 3 months of the fiscal yr starting Oct.1 of each yr...with a higher number it will be later in the yr before Sept. 30th or you might not get an interview date at all.

There is always a chance that a number doesn't become current or USCIS reachs the 50,000+ 5,000 GC visa's and after that they stop doing interiews....The last couple of yrs most # became current:)
