Im from Australia and i am married to a US citizen
Basically what i want to know is
is there a limited amount of time alloted to hand the appropriate forms in? we had a family emergency that took a few months and i am only now beginning to get my forms filled out, I-485 etc.
Ive been married since last year and my original visa has obviously expired by now. I called the INS months back and they didnt really help me, they just said i was fine and im considered "out of status" until i get my forms together,and they said its ok im doing everything legally and they do give you time to get the forms together, but they didnt say how much time, anyone know?
