Time allowed w/o work during H1 transfer

Guys,

I am currently working with company A with a valid H1. My new employer, company B, has filed for a transfer to be effective 8/16/04. I will be leaving company A to go to B full-time.

1)Can I start with B even if my the transfer is not yet approved.
2)When can I leave A prior to going to B. Because, I do need some time for relocation, etc..

You can begin working with B on or after 8/16/04 OR as soon as you get a receipt notice from USCIS regarding the transfer application, whichever is later. You will need the original receipt notice to prove work authorization.
