Those who have renewed NP, Please answer.

My wife's aunt and her three daughters recently had an interview for citizenship. They live in USA for 10 years now and don't have national passports (came to the country as refugees). According to them the question of NP never been raised (I specifically asked). Passport is not a requirement for asylees/refugees. The letter is just too general which they send to everybody.
I edited my post at the same time you were writing your reply, so I will repeat what I wrote as an addition in my edit :"I am assuming if one does not have a passport, then they have to make an explanation on why not or it will be indicated so in the forms filed so INS will already know about it, but if one has a passport and the question which I initially replied to on this thread was "how will they know if I renewed my passport?", then you have to show that passport hence my comment "they will see that you renwed it then"

Oh yeah, sorry. Of cource they will. I even heard that they ask asylees if NP was renewed (no proof required). Sorry for misuderstanding :).

Based on your situation, I think renewing NP should not affect getting future security clearance. I also agree with PVLACA's opinion on the subject. As time goes by the societies worldwide become more open and democratic. The US is a leader in helping individuals achieving fulfillments of personal ideas and on the other side restricting an ability of those who do not deserve it. I think you won't have a trouble at the time of getting sec. clearance.

Gee, what movies have you been watching? You should ask those immigrants, legal or illegal, who were marching down the streets of main cities in the US yesterday in their protest against the US selfish and exploiting policy towards them. US makes them wash dishes and pick garbage for years before they can even think about 'achieving their fulfillments and personal dreams'. And no, you cannot have a dual citizenship and have a security clearance at the same time. Isn't this an oxymoron?
