Why should we talk about continuing the process with the old employer. All u have to do is to get a new job in a similar job classification and wait for ur approval. If u get a RFE for employement letter/paystubs then u can submit the current employers\'. We saw bunch of approvals with 180 day job changers.

Cancellation of I-140
I-140 can be cancelled only if you are working for the same employer once you leave, your old employer has nothing to do with the case. Same is true for H-1B too. The key is that you have to let INS know about your intention of leaving and you will be safe.
