Last year PR visa's were reduced to 30 % from previous year, thats why spouses for many were not approved. Is it a prudent guess?? I dont know. However 2003 PR's were at 700,000 compared to million a year before. Well, in 2003 stat book, USCIS mentioned the drop in immigration is due to heavy load on security checks. Why this bottleneck came after 2001 and 2002? Intesting observation for 2003 is out of 700k immigrants only 82k(barely 11percent) were skilled labor. Only India sent 40 percent of its immigrants as skilled labor which is 25 percent of all the skilled labor to US workforce (social security depositors for retiring Baby boomers), from one country India. Wow, like it or hate it.

I am sure you guys know, that during your practical training you're not obligated to pay social security. While this is only a year, most cases shorter it is still a saving.
