Third Country PCC : Any official guidelines/expereinces??

Hi ALL:

This thread is for PCC from countries other then USA and India i.e. for people who have also stayed in countries other then these for more then 6 or 12 ( Refer Packet 3 for explanation about periods) months.

I am sure lot of people who fall in above category face this dilemma - Let here be a discussion about the procedure and format for Such PCC\'s. e.g. In my case , i am specifically interested to know if i need a Canadian PCC from RCMP ( fingerprint based ) or Local police station PCC ( name based) check will suffice - Packet 3 merely says it needs to be obtained from "the police authorities of that locality" - according to this , Name based check should be fine - but i am confused by the conflicting approach of other CPer\'s who are insisting /going for RCMP PCC\'s - Sharing of any personal experience by one who did it successfully with Local PCC would be of great help.

I stayed in UK for slightly less than 6 months(177 days) so I have a question that do I still need to get PCC from UK? please let me know.

Per Packet 3 , if you stayed in a country other then of ur nationality , u need a PCC only if you lived there for more then 12 months.

Based on that , i would say you dont need it.
 
any change in rule for Police certificate?

Thanks ykv, I was looking into my friends Packet3 document who went for a interview in October 01..so in that they specified, for countries India, UK do not attempt obtain certificate covering residence in those countries, but now for India the rule is changed to have the PCC.. so that\'s why i was having this question if i need to get PCC for UK.. i stayed their from 15 March to 12 Sept, its little less than 6 months if its calculated datewise but don\'t know how its calculated officially.. any insights on this will be really great or if you know any website having this info. pls let me know.. thanks again!!!
