things after applying 485

Can somebody please help us understand what are the intermediate steps after applying 485 and before getting the actual GC.

What are the timelines for each steps.

My P.D is current. Sep/2002 - EB3. Applying for 485 in June.

As per my understanding, here is what happens:

0) Apply for I-485 and it gets accepted by USCIS.
1) Get EAD; Time = 1-2 months.
2) Get fingerprinting request; Time = 1-2 months depending if you are not stuck in name check.
3) Get the actual green card. Depending if your PD remains current; Time = 1 year.


is the above correct ?

Please advise.

It is better to apply for AP also with your EAD. Biometrics is nothing to do with your name check. The two goes independent of each other.

Yes, thanks. It's was a long wait especially under some weired personal circumstances. Anyways, iam happy for everybody who is current and i wish others get there gc soon.

what is the benefit of getting AP?
How to know if somebody is out of Name check clearance?
 
Hi all, Please advice me for the followings
Can I apply I-485 without the help of attorney?
Should I apply I-765 EAD? I am working under H1b in 7th year and extended upto May 2010.
Medical should be done before applying I-485?
What about AP? should i apply along with 485?

You can file 485 yourself .. the form is simple .. but why risk.
Applying EAD/AP is upto you.. but since you have h1b upto 2010.. you can save some $ by not applying. Only thing about EAD is that Ur spouse can work .. and if you want to do some part time job then it can be possible with EAD.
AP is to re-enter the country if you are using EAD.
EAD/AP can be applied at anytime, I mean along with 485 or later.
Yes you need medical done before applying for 485.

Nadi, Thank you very much. Can i apply EAD only for my spouse when i apply for I-485?

yes .. but once Ur spouse uses EAD then he/she would need AP to reenter... It is easy to do EAD online .. but you need to go for biometrics. If you do it on paper then there is no need for biometrics. For AP you need to send your pictures.
