They say BACK OFF (USCIS' answer after they got served)

that's what I am talking about, they didn't tell me about that at the time of the interview.
I was told that everything is in place, they are only waiting for the namecheck to be finished.

You probably already know this, having gone through the green card process: CIS is not responsible for its own mistakes. Thay pay no penalty for their screw-ups. If they had granted you citizenship anyway and "discovered" their error 15 years from now, they would revoke it. So consider yourself "lucky" that they caught it now rather than way later. If you had then sponsored someone for a green card, even their green card would have been revoked in the future. Unfortunately, there is no law to penalize CIS.

Is this a proven fact? Perhaps you can show examples.

If they find that you have lied on your application, they can say that that the naturalization was invalid and never happened.

But, somehow I think that if they called you up 15 years after your naturalization and said "sorry, we screwed up, you should never have been naturalized" a good lawyer could make a pretty good 14th amendment case out of it.

Hi y'all!

Well, I think USCIS would have a hard, costly time having naturalized citizenship revoked. They cannot do that administratively and you could ride that out for years in court.... ;-).

Cheers!
