They lost my papers...

I had an interview appointment today at 8:15 am for a concurrent 130/485 based filing. We reached there around 7:30 am and took a seat after submitting the appointment letter. Within minutes, a lady called out our name and looking around, I saw her standing behind the reception counter where we had submitted the appointment letter. When we walked up to her, she told us that she was a supervisor and that they didnt have our papers and that they had been sent to California by mistake. She took our numbers and gave us hers and told us to call back in a week if we didnt hear from her.
Has anyone ever encountered anything like this?I am scared that our case might fall into the ranks of USCIS oblivion like so many others.

I've read countless number of stories in the past year or so, as I was going through the same process. However, I've never read about something about this. It is unfortunate and this will inevitably delay your process most likely. Good thing is that it seems that they didn't really "lose" your papers, they sent it somewhere else and know where it was sent. From how I see it, I guess you will just have to wait a week like the supervisor said and call her if not contacted in a week. I don't see anything that you can be besides that.

Thank you for your response. I agree I will have to wait now till I hear back from her. On a positive note, she did mention that they would have the interview ASAP once they get my papers.
