US Citizenship to Attend a Basic Recruit Training Course
Dear Mr. Jeffrey XXX
This is in response to your question regarding any requirement by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission to be a United States Citizen in order to attend a basic recruit training program. While Chapter 943.13(2), Florida Statutes, mandates that a person be a US Citizen prior to employment or appointment as a criminal justice officer, this mandate does not extend to participation in a Commission-approved basic recruit training program. The Commission does not have any rules or statutes prohibiting a non-US Citizen from participating in a basic recruit training program.
If you have any further questions, please contact Terry Baker, Training and Research Manager in the Bureau of Standards, at telephone number (850) 410-8688.

I have already sent this letter to 4 local schools by me. Maby this will help them understand and stop saying it's an FDLE rule to be a US Citizen to attend their Police academy's. This discrimination has been going on for a while(I doubt I am the first LPR who wanted to attend a Police academy in Florida). If this doesn't wise these schools up, a lawsuit sure will. These schools are public schools, NOT private. FDLE oversees these Police academys. I even had one as- from one school tell me that my GC wouldn't help me at his school.
If the school still does not comply, I will post my pending lawsuit if I need to file one.
