Theory on Cashed Cheques and Receipt Notices

Hi All,

I keep on reading on these forums that when cheques for the I-485/I-140 get cashed, one should expect the notice any day. Is that somehow related or dependent on each other? Is there proof to this trend? I got my checques cashed last week. So does that mean I should expect my notice this week?

Any thoughts?

USCIS usually prints the receipt number(s) on the back of the check(s) when they are cashed...so, u would normally expect to receive the receipts shortly after the checks have been encashed..since the case has been assigned a #.

Thank you..That makes sense

Also, once a check is cashed and you can see a picture of it online, you can use that receipt number printed on the back to find out your case status - before you ever receive the receipt notice in the mail.
