last post on this matter from me.

this is not for catdog, somehow i dont see him having any brain to understand all this, or if he says he is citizen, that means he just doesnot want any competition...whatever there is not point talking to him....he is out of touch with reality...

guys we cant compare not only india to usa, but not to any other country in the world, even though there are countries like norway with such social welfare that a citizen is totally taken care over there, but the quality of life is so bad, i will not like to be there.

i know usa is not the utopia, i just hope that it will become one day.

i have know people from all over the world, infact i was in australia, had a chance to get a permanent residency, but i decided that i will be better off in india with my savings rather than go to australia(its economy is 5% of usa, job cycle is very volatile, everything happens in two cities, sydney and melbourne...).

when there are so many people who just wish that somehow they get GC, well there is a reason, its the best thing that can happen to a person from india, its like getting the right to live like a human being.

here are the reason i am in usa, and would consider myself lucky if i get GC:
1. income to cost of living.....best in the world....in india we may have to pay 30 years for a double bedroom apartment....i can buy a big house in 20 years over here.....if you buy a TV in india, a month salary is gone.......etc etc..

being a middle class with no inherited property i cant even think of a good house and good life....being here i am even able to take care of my parents..

2. work environment: no need to do bullshit....no need to prove that you are a super star.....no need to make work as your life.....we can work 8 hours and have a life also....

3. infrastructure...guys india is a third world country not without a reason....laloo has been ruling since 20 years.....bangalore was doing great....what is the result...unplanned growth....traffic jam....life like hell....

4. public service, law and order....can you expect some one to help you in medical emergency or when you feel your life may be in threat.....call 911 and you will get some one in 10 mins........forget abt that in india.....call the cops....and you may spend months trying to get out of the their loops.....and you have to always be soft and put up with their BS..otherwise they will make your life hell...

5. opportunity.....jobs....business....i can make $100k being a oridinary sw engg...(compared to indian standards...where we produce 100k engg every year....and its a dog eat dog world...)....i dont have to think of promotion....i can relax and enjoy my life.....i can start a business if i come across a opportunity.....in india......there are so many....that you will find a shop next to you in few days.....

6. ask any women who comes to usa....90% of them dont want to go back....they smell freedom guys....which they will never get in indian society....

i think this is enough.....things are looking tough right now.....and it may take years before we get GC......but thats all right i just feel a bit unlucky.....but i will wait.....if i get it in time....i will enjoy my life....else my savings in the next 5-6 years.....should be able to get a decent life.....
 
I have to agree that we will be moved around according to the needs of this country. IT bodies from India is in high supply, no need to speed up our GC process. Nursing is now the big business. The only hope we have is that immigration is a hot topic now. Most likely an immigration bill will be voted no later than Spring. Something will happen in the next months. 80%+ of Americans are fed up with illegal immigration and some are starting to get fed up with legal immigration as well. I think the employer's lobby who keep immigration as is just to continue to the influx of cheap illegal labor will be unable to stop a bill at this time.

We may have a chance to get an increase in the EB visa numbers.

this guy is really happy guy except one thing.....he is not satisfied and not getting enough at home (by whom??).........so looking for all desi-videsi who can satisfy his needs (maybe some one else's need also livin with this fella, how unlucky they are i can imagine........).........otherwise why the hell on earth one well-settled guy who thinks he made right choice right time and directly makes fun of others fate is around........he forgets that any fine morning in coming years he might face some event which will make him unhappy......i really wish such bad things for such bad person........

about bollywood movie.......send him to sallubhai, sanjubhai and govinda...(and maybe bips for his partner??)....all three will make his day and satisfy his apetite......

Looks like you would be the best guide to where the nearest unemployment office is. You prehaps must have been there many times yourself looking for a job. By the way I think the folks here can decide for themselves, you help is not required unless you have something specific to say on immigration processing related matters. THE BITTER TRUTH is that the forum is meant for that specific purpose.

I am sorry to say that without proper qual the jobs you can get here now are burger flippers or that category. If you call that decent then I can't argue with you. If your kid only has a high shcool diploma over here it will be worth nothing. there used to be decent paying manufacturing jobs for less qualified people.not anymore everything is going to china/india.

So rest assured if your child does not want to study and get a PROFESSIONAL college degree he is a goner.. no matter if he is in india or usa.

Agree with you on this one. Agreed that a college degree is invaluable. But, PROFESSIONAL need not be Doctor or Engineer. How about sportsperson, singer, actor, pilot, interior decorator, artist, musician, army/navy/air force officer, etc.? These can happen mostly in the US not in India.

What I meant to say with the example of the deck guy was that even with a college degree he is upset that he does not have a decent office job and to make some money he is working in 100 degree weather making decks. So imagine what a kid with high school diploma will do.. grilling a burger near a very hot grill...

Aha, now wait a minute; I am making a (could be wrong) assumption here, you are an Indian and what you said is typical Indian mentality. What is wrong in the above scenario? I know a guy from here who became a bartender after the dotcom bust (this was temporary as he was trying to upgrade his skills and get a job). What would you have done in such a situation in India(or even here)? Looked for the easiest way out? Lived off Pop's money for some time? Grow up man, they might not like what they are doing (as above) but there is dignity of labour here to a large extent not seen in India.

To spoil somebody you do not need 100 channels. IF kids want to see porno they will see it anywhere.. There is much more on the internet than anywhere else. It is how you bring them up. So having ZEE SOny etc does not make any difference. If you try to make your kid a prisoner he will go towards those things more. If you teach tme the right thing and trust them then they will do the right thing no matter where...

You will be in for a big dissapointment if you stay. Go now and make life easy for us who are well settled here and make life easy for yourselves. Don't you hear the sound of partying since the dates came out ? It is those bodyshoppers who are laughing all the way to the bank while you cry softly in your bed all night..They have you as modern day slaves for a few more years..

So, let me give you a better suggestion then. Sell your house here (if you have managed to buy one), take the millions you have made here (you must have made some since going by your above statement those who haven't should not be here; if you haven't then you will be the laughing stock of this forum; a guy who is so unemployed that he has ample time to give unwanted public lectures here); and from the money buy a palatial house in India, complete with cars chauffers etc. Forget about laughing to the bank, you will be the king in the banks there (that is IF you have made any millions) What are you sticking around here for? Surrender that citizenship and let some young bloke with spirits and guts use it :) . Hey guys(other readers) looks like catdog is "current" with some news that the "world" :rolleyes: is not aware of ;) Looks like he is so busy that he has all the time in the world to browse this forum and be kind :rolleyes: enough to make us aware of cost cutting, outsourcing, standards of living etc. Man I hope I don't run into this specimen. :eek:

I have every right of expressing my opinions in a civil way and also think that what I am saying is true. I have passed thru your situation of looking at GC thru rose colored glasses. It is not a solution to your problems.

When did you get your GC/CITIZENSHIP (Priority date/140/485/etc)
What is your current employment background (Own a consulting firm/working as perm employee/consultant/running personal business/umemployed etc)
What is your residence status (Own single family house/townhouse/condo/rental house/etc)
How long you are here in this country (Illegally n years/legally with visa n years/With GC n years/etc)
What was the worst thing happened in your life financially/physically before/after your immigration to this country?
What was the worst thing happened to your friends/family members in US?
How many times you/your friend's family members (son/daughter) get arrested (None,0,1,2 or more)
Did any of your friends/family members get deported before/after Sep 11 (None,0,1,2 or more)
How many times you/your friends volunteered for any social activities in your company/community? What are they? (like September 11 fund rising, katrina/rita disaster relief/voluntory fire/medical service personnal, Gujarat lathur earthquake, India/Indonesia Tsunami relief, Human rights activities, antiwar protests, blood donation etc)
Do you support financially anybody other than your family members in US/India?
Do you activly volunteer in any religious activities based on Hindi/Muslim/Christian belief?
Do you gain any profit from the religious activities?
How many times you went to India for vacation? And What was maximum and minimum number of days of stay before and after GC/Citizenship
Mention atleast 10 worst things in US`(not good things in India) so that people can make their mind to stop their GC processing, and leave the country immediately and join as a CTO/CEO/PM/TL/Developer in TCS/Wipro/Sathyam/Infosys/CTS. I hope you would allow(!!) people joining IBM India R&D center, Microsoft India R&R Center, Intel India and etc US companies in Bangalore/Hydrabad and Chennai.)

I am asking all these questions to you since you seems to be very very experienced in US life and expert in advicing immigrants. i cant wait to jump into this discussion eventhough i read only a few of the posts in this thread. iam also a gc holder like u, and was amazed to see how a guy who was in these people's shoes trying to forget about what all he had gone through. well everyone has his own reasons to stay or leave, so its none of ur business and dont try to take that gc to ur head, what goes around comes around. iam a doc in this country and had gone through this painful gc process, so eventhough i dont need anything from this forum i keep frequenting it to know what is going on and if possible pass on any useful info to my visa friends or relatives. to all others who posted here, please hang in there, its just a matter of time before u get the gc, till then try and vent, counsel or support one another. people like these catdog are nothing in real life, ignore them. please have some wisdom to know what to write and what not to write.

Catdog is a frustrated housewife on H4 visa struggling to get work permit.
She was doing some productive work in India,and was idle here since her arrival 7 yrs back.She fights with her hubby frequently to convince him to move back to India.But the guy is not listening.So she is venting her frustration here in the forums(As she is idle she visits these forums regularly)hoping some positive movement,but alas it is not happening.
We have to understand her and be sympathetic to her,and by the way guys her name is DEEPTHI.... :D :D

I am trying to track you, what happened to your daughter's case ? Did you take EAD and AP for her?
We also got approvals on the last day (30th Sept), but my son's case was stuck in security check.

My daughters case is not approved yet when last I talked to vsc he said that the file is ready but not picked up. but security check is cleared. she does not require EAd as she is still studying and yes she got her AP and travelled with no problem so I am still waiting for her approval
