I did NOT mean to initiate idle discussion abut what India has acheived and what the politicians are doing and what we can do for India and all that..

I am talking about the individual people here who are wasting their time and their golden years of their lives for a GC. If you had been trying your GC in 1994-2000 I would have supported you because there was a direct benefit. Now first of all , it will take you years to get one.. secondly it does not carry much value as before.. third you can go back to your country and make comparable money in PPP terms ( not absolute conversion from $ to Rs ) .

With the fiscal deficits, the coming boomer retirement and consequently the mdedical needs of all those old people, much higher taxes and higher inflation are around the corner. Add ot it the wage pressures becasue of off-shore competition and you see the picture ( much lower standards of living here and higher in India ). This movment in std of living will go on till there is an equilibrium between US and India/China. And that is because work can be moved anywhere with ease nowadays.

So unless you have been in this country for > 10-12 years and have made a fortune ( atleast a few hundred thousand $ if not a million ) with the dot com boom and not lost a fortune in the stock market.. you should not be here.

You will be in for a big dissapointment if you stay. Go now and make life easy for us who are well settled here and make life easy for yourselves. Don't you hear the sound of partying since the dates came out ? It is those bodyshoppers who are laughing all the way to the bank while you cry softly in your bed all night..They have you as modern day slaves for a few more years..

You said it right. Apna haath jagannath. I know the only thing you can do with your hand...
Poor Birj. He is totally frustrated with the dates. That's why he cannot have a constructuve discussion and resorts to such language. Go back to your village..

If you had made enough money why don't you leave. Iooks like you have lot time to spare instead of wasting your time on this forum and posting irrelevant things, why don't you leave. And first decide are you a cat or dog, if you are a dog stop barking or if you think you are a cat sit in one corner

abe u dakhan, tere jaise bahunth deka hai, GC aagayi aur samje na lage paidehe american hai.

you are more like your name, neither cat or nor Dog, you think you are American but Desi ka Desi he rahega, socha eedar ake India's bach gaya, abe saale, jo to hai wahi rahega, hum loge kahani pe nahi jane wale, we are going to get Green card itz just a matter of time.

You are mistaken my friend. My only intentions is to guide you to the right path. You will be in pain my friend if you continue on. Listen to a wise old guy and go back...

Agree with you

I just returned from India and cannot agree less with you. I am definitely feeling I am wasting my time here (already wasted a lot of time (10 years to be precise). I met a friend there who returned when his 7 year extn was rejected. He is very happy he returned - makes 25 lakhs and I am sure can save 1.5 lakhs per month ($3K) and got a very senior position.

Correction

The original mailer posted with a dirty intention, but what I am saying is this is definitley a blessing in disguise. Making $40K in India is equivalent to $100K here with all the cost of living advantage. We can send our kids to college (here it will cost us $250K per kid by the time our kids go to college in next 15 years). Both husband and wife will have to work to earn $200K plus a year to save for their education and then you will have to work till you are 70+ (remember they are going to increase the retirement age here as they will run out of Social security and you cannot depend on it any way).
Universities here are not getting enough foreign students for engg etc(due to visa etc restrictions) and will end up laying off proffessors and increasing tuition fees. Education in India is good and becoming better till under grad.
Health care is good and affordable. List does not end there.

Unless until you have your own business, where ever you work either Body shopper or any other big company...working to others is "SLAVE". Tell us are you a "SLAVE" or Not? If not today atleast some time in your life.
