is a CERTIFIED marriage certificate different from what i recieved when i got married? i just made a copy of my originals....is that ok?

when submitting i-863 do we need to send both the tax transcripts and the federal income tax returns? someone on these boards said have my wife call the irs and request her transcripts which she did but do we need to send them in as well as copies of her returns or will the federal income returns(copies) suffice.

when putting the package together do i put all the forms...I-130, I-485, I-765 in one big envelope with fees attached to each individual form and seperate the forms with clips or rubberbands. i'm nervous they might come loose in transit and get mixed up...dont want unneccessary RFE. thx for ur replies.
 
It is not ok for you to send the copy of your marriage cert. and you if got REF if you do so.

You can send your original one, or, if you were married in US, u can always apply for a certified copy, basically it is same as your original one with different issue date.

That is wrong. You can send photocopies of your marriage certificate, and you'll be fine and dandy.

HeadKi55, either transcripts or originals of your tax returns are fine. You can send both - it never hurts to overdo :)

And don't worry - USCIS folks will figure out what's where when they get your papers. They are busy and overwhelmed with work, but they are not stupid! :) :)

I-130 (yellow paper- front and back) - corresponding document for US citizen -photos
I-485 - corresponding documents for immigrant - photos

I-693 - sealed envelope from civil surgeon
I-765 - photos

Do not staple the forms and documents. Use paper clips
One big envelope to mail them in with the words "Original Submission" written on the front

neshawn what do u mean by yellow paper front and back?
 
The I-130 is 2 pages. The I-130 has to printed on yellow paper. You have to print it on one page back and front.

I don't think you'll be rejected for that, but why not do what they say to do the way they say to do it?

Yes, No 14 of the instructions on the above page states:
"USCIS no longer routinely requires submission of original documents or "certified copies." Instead, ordinary legible photocopies of such documents (including naturalization certificates and alien registration cards) will be acceptable for initial filing and approval of petitions and applications."
And, I haven't seen a request of certified copies of original documents in the instructions of INS forms. I wonder why people keep asking about that? :confused:

It is not a good idea to follow directions in some booklet from a .org site!!!
Things change daily on www.USCIS.gov instructions, and in the forms. One should relay on the government site when dealing with the immigration.
It does not mean you can't look at the other sites, but you want to make sure it is up to date and correct!

it appears as if you don't have to use yellow paper, even though I was instructed to do so. If you still have questions just call the 1-800-375-5283 USCIS number and ask. They will tell you what you need to know. I wish you well with your experience.
 
Yes, they said they don need original/certified copies and u can always send the photocopies, however, I've got a REF by sending the photocopies.
u may take the risk to get a REF
 
Can you state exactly what you needed to send as originals because they explicity state do not send originals because there is a lot to getting them back.
