Don't worry too much.
According to one Godman's prediction, the world will face lot of catastrophs and by the year 2010 there will be very little population on the earth and the survivors will have to travel 50 miles to meet the neighbour. We are already seeing Tsunamis and Hurricanes as a proof of this prediction.
So there is no point in worrying too much about these dates

Just recived the email for I485 approval for my wife at 1 PM, hope they don't hold back the card. here is the history
2003 : recieved my GC
2004 : got married , wife on J-1 got really upset to find out that it would take 5-6 years to get family based GC, thought of moving back to H-1
3 FEB 2005 : filed EB2 NIW I-140 (does not need a labor)
APRIL : Got a RFE replied to it
14 JUN 2005 : I-140 approval
18 JUL 2005 : filed I-485 + EAD
10 AUG 2005 : code 3 fingerprint
19 SEPT 2005 : filed AP thinking we got stuck with RETRO
24 SEPT 2005 : EAD appoved (had no LUD's)
28 SEPT 2005 : first LUD on I-485 (had none for fingerprint)
30 SEPT 2005 : I-485 approval email
being involved with immigration issues for long time (self & wife), i would say don't loose heart, retro will sort out itself as this affects big american companies .. and goverment here always finds a way for big business

At last our 485 cases were approved but one of my son's case was still stuck in security check. It took 2 expedited requests to change EB3 to EB2. Last week they ammended my 140 and at the very last possible moment, they approved our 485 cases.
