Hi Zaryun,
thank you and yes, we had to bring the kids with us to the interview. Not only to the interview but also to the biometrics, when they took our pictures for the green card.

to marvadur,
Once again, congratulations!
Indeed, it's a great birthday gift :)
Take care,
greg_dv2006

p.s. Did you have to bring the IRS 1722 form /or/ IRS printouts of your tax returns to the interview? I have it listed in my interview notice together with my tax returns

CONGATULATIONS
That is very nice.
One question, I saw that some people sent one of the DSP forms to KCC center and then applyed for AOS. Did you do the same thing , if yes WHY? Anybody else can explain why did you send that form to KCC and only after you got that letter from them applyed for AOS? I'm curious because in the winning letter it said that you don't have to contact KCC in case you are in US legally.

Thank you Borya! You were the first of our "group" to get the green card :)

I also had a problem with my card, but mine is a spelling error in my name. Guess I'll be filing I-90 form also... Did you pay the fee? The immigration officer told me over the phone that if you prove that the mistake was done by USCIS you don't need to pay the fee. Did you send your card and docs together with form I-90?

Thanks Greg. What I took to the interview was the 2002/03/04 tax return copies and W-2s but the officer didn't even ask for them.

Thank you Alincosma.

Regarding your question, we did send the initial forms to KCC. Actually, we sent both DSP-122 and DS-233 even though later on we found out that only DSP-122 was necessary if you're adjusting status in the US.

After that, we received a letter from KCC where they said "Thank you for informing us of your intention to apply for AOS with the Department of Homeland Security, USCIS."

Then, we paid the fee to the Department of State and they sent us a receipt.

We waited until March to send our AOS application to the Chicago Lockbox.

I cannot tell you for sure that this was the right procedure, but it worked for us.

Did you do it differently? And if yes, it looks like it's also working well for you :)

Alincosma,

Below is a thread of email communication between me and KCC, that I thought you might find helpful. If I were you, I would send DSP-122 to KCC as soon as possible.

Dmmapril.

Dear Sir or Madam:

The following is the information requested:

Case: ************
Name: ************
Email: ************

INFO: Thank you for your inquiry. If you are in the United
States, you may be eligible to apply to the Citizenship and Immigration
Services (CIS) for adjustment of status. Please note that the laws
regarding adjustment of status have recently changed. The option to adjust
status may no longer be available to all applicants. To determine whether
you are eligible to adjust your status you MUST contact the CIS. Once the
CIS confirms your eligibility to adjust status they will provide you with
the additional information that you need. When contacting your local CIS
office they may inform you that will not be eligible to file your adjustment
until the beginning of the fiscal year, which will be October 1 of each
program year.
If the CIS determines that you are eligible to adjust status you will be
required to pay a non-refundable diversity-processing fee of $375.00 per
person directly to the Department of State. Information regarding where
this fee should be paid is included in your winning notification packet.
This fee is assessed to cover cost incurred by the Department in running the
lottery selection process and is separate from any fees you will need to pay
the CIS as part of your adjustment application. Failure to pay this fee may
result in the loss of your diversity visa. (Please mail the
diversity-processing fee to the address given below.)

states: "Name of United States Consular Office where you would like to
process your application". When adjusting status with the Immigration and
Naturalization Service please list the address of your local CIS office.

Subject: Adjustment of status

I'm a winner of the DV-2006 diversity immigration program. I'm currently in the US and would like to apply for adjustment of status.

I'm wondering if I'm supposed to fill and return forms 230 and DSP-122 to the Kentucky Consular Center, or I should take the forms with me when I go to my local USCIS office. I'm also wondering if I have to wait until October, 1, 2005 to apply for the adjustment of status, or I can start the process soon.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thank you very much.

I am a little confused now. I have called them regarding this issue. The officer that I was talking to, told me that I do not need to send those forms. The purpose of those forms is to tell them that I accept the lottery. She told me that once I sent the $375 fee to DOS with my case number on it, they will not need those forms because the payment equally confirms my intention to adjust status.
And they did accept my application. I probably should email them again to get that in writting.
