The best place for a new immigrant

You did your school in the south of what? I have been to almost every state - how about you? Yes some states and cities have hot and humid summers, but to generalis that California is the only state that is not too hot or cold just isn't correct.

And Princedriss - please don't say that I have written "nonsense stuff" - I don't write nonsense. Every single thing I wrote above is true, and it is based on my personal experience of the last 20 years where I have spent more time in the USA (travelling extensively for work reasons) than I have in Europe.

The hottest temperatures in LA do not exceed 84 F in August, and you say summer is very hot in LA ? That is why i say that you are saying nonsense stuff, I am sure you have never been in New Orleans or Houston to tell me that summer in LA is hot. I am sure you never been in Atlanta GA in July...

I repeat it again , the best weather in the US is California coast, and the most humid and hot weather in summer is in the south, and the coldest weather is in east coast and north, Midwest ...

Okay I don't want to sound like a UN mediator but can we all just chill out here? Its just the flipping weather after all and not a matter of life and death or something to fight about.

White flag everyone! This journey is stressful enough as it is so everyone turn that frown upside down and breeeeathe! :)

Ummmm - what are you talking about???? 84F is the AVERAGE in August.

Max temp in LA - 113F That is pretty extreme don't ya think????

And yes I have been to New Orleans and Houston and I have been to Atlanta around 40 times so I imagine at least one of those times was in July.

You are talking like a teenager so I won't bother to engage with you again. This forum is full of useful information and I have done my best to contribute to that. You are talking drivel right now so you are wasting my time.

I'm already on a roll my friend. I got in touch with ACRO this morning on the police certificate issue and as soon as I have an affidavit letter from my lawyer by tomorrow I'll send it across to ACRO by courier so I can get my UK police certificate.

Local police certificate I'm going to have my admin manager go and ask if I can get it quicker. Its pretty dumb considering it costs only 2,500/- Shillings (about a Dollar and a half) and takes two weeks to receive but if you request a "favour" it costs an extra amount of money to get it quicker. Welcome to life in Africa!

I also visited the US Embassy assigned clinic for my medical this morning and the lady there told me the medical is valid for 6 months in correlation with the entry period for the visa and she said I should wait until my 2nd NL comes through next week, then book an appointment and the medical process including x-rays and vaccinations will be done in one week (they're gonna jab my butt and rob me of my last shred of dignity booooohooooo!!! lol).

Once the medical and police certificates are out of the way I will obtain the bank statements (three months should suffice) as I have already spoken to the bank manager.

According to my over-planning (my parents keep telling me I plan more than I have to and am over-organised for my own good! lol), I should have everything ready approximately 3-4 weeks before the interview so I can relax.

How's your progress coming along?

Please stop giving non sense proofs, take a look for the weather of LA all the year and come back : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles#Climate

Ok cool , whenever i get my 2nd NL i will schedule my medical visit, police certificate won't be a problem , i got to translate the papers so i am looking for a good translator. My diplomas are american so I won't have a problem, the only problem is my high school diploma that i lost it, i just got from my old high school director a certificate that says i got my high school diploma from that school , i don't know if it is enough, but work will start whenever we got our 2nd NL bro :D

I don't think you understand what average means. Read your own link. I mean READ not just look at the pretty picture (which shows an average high in August of 84.4F).

we are not talking about one day or two , we are talking about period

Look at what you say : " In LA or further south in San Diego you will see very warm summer temperatures "

84 F as high average and it is very warm summer for you ? are you kidding me ? take a look for high average temperature in Atlanta, Houston, New Orleans then come back.

Look Princedriss. You said "The hottest temperatures in LA do not exceed 84 F in August". That is incorrect - temperatures in LA regularly exceed 84 and have been known to exceed 100F (with a record high as I pointed out of 113F). so yes that is what I call a warm summer temperature. Not horrible - just warm.

I know it can be hot in the three cities you mention (and I know because I have actually been to those places not just read about it on Wikipedia) but I don't see those temperatures as extreme (or "extreem" as you would say).

Contrary to your original sweeping generalization, as I pointed out there are several other states that offer a nice balanced climate (a point you have already conceded).

There is no point in continuing this debate. You make no sense and your comments are littered with inaccuracies, you accuse me of posting nonsense. The thread is useful but this discourse between a child and an adult is not adding anything useful.

no u made this topic useless by saying that I do not know US, the country which i lived 5 years and not small visits. U told me that summer in the south is cool , which a big nonsense sentence for me, simply because i lived there and i know what does it mean hot humid summer. Everybody ,except you, is agree that the weather in CA coast is the best than the other US region, mild in winter and cool in summer. I gave you example to compare LA with Atlanta, Memphis, Nashville, New orleans , Houston and you refused to recognize your mistake.

Any way let's stop being off topic , let's come back to the subject which is : The best place for a new immigrant, i am concerned in that because i will be , If god want, a US resident in few month

Well, yeah that's a good idea. Just be helpful in the big pic in helping out ppl 'overall' than get bog down on petty one on one bickering!!

Anyways, those who are looking for places in US weather wise, real facts than a general 'wiki' would be useful.
For weather, for historical numbers (monthly avg etc.) and looking at custom date ranges I recomend this
http://www.wunderground.com/history/

Here I've custom it to LA 1/5 to 1/9 '12

http://www.wunderground.com/history...012&req_city=NA&req_state=NA&req_statename=NA

For any city to chk how bad the hot/cold ness in it (during summer/winter months) the best measure is looking at its avg. cooling/heating degree days (chk definitions elsewhere). For an ex. for the above time period for LA the cooling deg. days was 699 and for NOLA it was 2122!!, now that IS a difference, isn't it?!

Hope this helps.

Best!

I do find it odd that you're asking questions about good places for immigrants if you've lived there for 5 years.

And to state the obvious, perceptions of whether or not temperature is extreme or not depends where you come from. Someone used to winter in St Petersburg (Russia not Florida!) or someone from Sydney Australia will have very different ideas about how extreme for example a Massachusetts winter is, or how hot a Southern summer may be.

The student perception is not the Immigrant perception. I have been living in US as student, when i was done with school , i got back to my country because i did not have papers with me to stay in the peak of the financial crisis 2009. Now thanks god, I am in my way to have my GC, in addition that i already have the US education , it will allow me to realize my old dreams by the help of God.

LOL! +1 for you, Momo! Discussing the weather is like discussing religion and politics - everyone has such different opinions and experiences. And it can get quite heated :D

With weather, it's all about individual preferences. Some hate the heat, others the cold, or the snow, the rain, on and on. And people's perception of the weather can vary a lot. A bit of heat for some is like agony, while others revel in it. The only time I like cold weather is if I'm skiing or boarding in it, otherwise it's a waste of time and I hate it.

After returning to BC last year, we decided we couldn't stand the endless grey and wet anymore, so opting for any place in the Pacific Northwest of the US would have been out of the question for us. I don't mind rain but only if it's warm and doesn't hang around for days. Here in Florida, we have interesting afternoon thunder storms where it'll pour buckets for 20 minutes, then it goes away and gets sunny again. We had a tropical storm the other day (Andrea), which was a bit scary for us (newcomers to Florida) but our neighbours said it was no big deal at all. Just hope we don't get any big hurricanes!

Sorry, I can't be your bro, but I can be your sista ;)

I've been a new immigrant a few times before so it's more of the same - lots of time spent taking care of annoying details and getting used to many things. I will write something here and there, when it comes up.
