~~~Tense moments~~~ :Changing from B2 to H1-B at US Embassy in Singapore
I'm a US green card holder and my wife is a permanent resident of Singapore and she had a US B2 visa ( visitor/tourist visa ) stamp on her passport before marrying me. She entered the US on B2 after we got married. She was just asked how long she was going to stay in the States and what's the source of her funds.
Just before her B2 expired she got an employer sponsor her H1-B visa. No problem so far and everything is fine with her status.
My father-in-law is very ill and we need to visit India and we need to be in India as soon as we can.
I just want to be prepared so that there is no problem with her stamping and she can enter the US again.
We just bought a house in the US. If she gets stuck in Singapore then I have no choice but to relocate to Singapore. What a mess that would be. Also I have 3 more yrs to apply for US citizenship.
Many people told me that immigration officers dont like it when you convert from B2 to H1.
Is converting from B2 to H1-B a crime ?? Why did they approve my wife's h1-B application in the first place when she was in the US ?
Now that she has to mention on DS-156 that she is married to an LPR and furnish all the details, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Any suggestions on how best to approach this ??
Thanks a lot
Could you please let me know what happend after that?
One of my friend has 10 years visit visa stamped on her Passport, now she is planning to convert from B2(Visit visa) to H1-B visa, what happens after she get the H1-B document? what if she doesn't get the H1-B visa Stamped? and is she be able travel to India with valid Visit visa that she has on her Passport after getting the H1-B?
