Temporary visa in process while lottery won

Hello all, my wife won the dv lottery 2014 and we checked it May 10th. We already have a B1 visa application in process (applied in january 2013, interview april 2013). They are doing the admin processing at the moment. I'm the main applicant in the B1 visa. Since our application is still in process should I inform them about the selection for immigration? We have already submitted our forms to Kentucky. Would this have negative impact on any of our applications?
Our case number is 2014AS000034xx. When should we expect the interview?
Thanks a lot

Applying for a Green Card shows "intent" to live in the USA. By "applying for", I mean sending the 122 and 230 forms to KCC (not simply applying for the lottery). Normally this is a problem for temporary non immigrant visas. H and L visas are different in that they can allow "dual intent" meaning the temporary visa is fine and also making plans to apply for an immigrant visa.

I don't think the B visas allow for dual intent, so you might have a problem. Since you have already had your interview, you may not be asked the question again whether you intend to try and live in the USA. If you are asked that question, and if you are honest in your answer, you might have an issue. It isn't a great idea to lie to the USCIS, so hopefully you won't be asked the question.

Your CN is quite high, you could expect an interview in December/January.

Since we have already passed our interview, we may not be asked the question again. But i don't want to risk GC for a temp. Visa for a week we want to go. Would it make more sense if i email the consulate we applied for B1 visa and let them know the status change (applied for immigration)? We applied and interviewed before us knowing that we are selected but want to be on the safe side just in case officer in the GC interview asks. Thanks

You could call them. You might lose the B1 - but I doubt telling them or NOT telling them will jeopardize the GC. Being refused entry (if they ask when you enter on B1) might be an issue.

On balance I believe honesty is the best policy - and I would call/email the consulate to check. Email probably better so you have their reply in hand if any issues arise.

Ditto this. Better safe than sorry.

Hey don't worry, I had the same situation, was under administrative processing for b1/b2 when found out that was selected and sent out my forms to Kentucky, after that I received my b1/b2 visa, and I was stressed that they might not let me in usa on this visa because they would see that I sent out the immigration forms, but everything went smooth, and now I am visiting some relatives in the usa on b1/b2 visa...

Thank you all for your advices. I sent an email to the visa office and explained what happend. They replied today and thanked me for the update and said I do not need to provide any further info.

so it either means we are rejected in our B1 (he/she didn't say that) or because our application is already approved and is under admin. processing, they dont really care now.

either way, we did what we thought is safe and just in case anyone asks in the interview or in the entry, I can show them the email.
