Teaching job in UAE

Hi,

I just got an offer from a college in UAE (United Arab Emirates). I was wondering what will be the impact of my greencard if I were to take this job for 1 to 2 years? I do not really care about getting citizenship but rather maintaining my GC. What do I need to do in order to take up this offer?

If you want to be out of the US for up to two years, you can apply for a reentry permit ( form I131 ).
It will protect your GC ( you wouldn't loose it, that's the purpose of the form ), but it wouldn't protect your continuous residency for Citizenship.

However, keep in mind that the "trip" has to be temporary in nature : you intend to come back ( to the US ) !
The I131 form asks for a purpose. You could stay that this temporary assignment would help for your career. And it would be better if you could get a letter stating the time you will be out ( length of your assignment ) : the school could say that you will in the UAE for 18months.
