TD visa - kids passport expiring in less than 3 years

My kids Canadian passport expires in November 2023 (5 years validity) whereas mine and spouses are valid until 2030.

If my kid get TD visa along with my TN visa, will it be valid until Nov 2023 or 3 years after the entry date?

The issue is that passport office is saying I cannot apply for new passport unless current passport is expiring in the next 12 months. Is there a way to extend TD visa from within US?

The I-94 will be only for the period their passport is valid. But It is not worth losing much passport validity just so that they get an I-94 that coincides with yours. When you renew their passport next summer, then they will get a new I-94. I'm sure they will travel some time next year (probably to Canada to get a new passport -- getting one from the US is a hassle).

Besides, right now it will take forever to get a new passport, so don't bother.

You can file an I-539 to extend their I-94 while in US, but that too is costly, and takes about a year.
