TD and TN-1 border crossing

I would like to enter the US at a different time than my family. How does that affect their ability to obtain TD status?

Alternately, I may go at the same time - but take a different flight path to my end destination. Can we get the TD and TN-1 VISA's approved at the same time at the airport (Class "A" POE) and then proceed to get on different flights (which will be departing at about the same time)? Will they hassle us because some children will fly with her and some wll fly with me?

Just to make it clear - there is a preclearance facility at the airport that I will be using. Plan is: 1. do preclearance, 2. get TD and TN-1 VISA, 3. split up and go to different flights.
