Hi All,

My TB skin test is positive.. what are my options..here.

I did not go to doctor yet..I have to wait for atleast 72 hours. what doctor will suggest at this point of time..I mean for chest X-ray or he will refer to Local Health dept.???

If chest X-ray result turns out to be normal..then Am I eligible for GC process..

This really worries me lot...Please share any news...If anyone had this experience.

do not worry

If you X-ray comes negative, then you are fine. Skin test comes positive if you have received BCG (TB) vaccination in your childhood (most asians do). If you have any documentation for this vaccination, you can make an argument with your doctor that it comes positive because of previous vaccine.

Don't worry

My skin test had come positive too. My doctor took my chest X-ray which came negative (thankfully)..and he attached the X-ray report with the Skin test. You should be fine once your X-ray is done.. :)

Good luck !!

My Doctor said even X-ray is +ve, then he will start giving medication. But we can only apply after 15 days of medication. Nothing to worry

Not always correct. A huge amount of people do actually have latent TB.

To be sure, best option is not an X-Ray, but QuantiFERON-TB Gold test. It is a blood test, takes one day, and it is not sensitive to BCG's Mycobacterium Bovis.

Most good clinics should offer it, cheaper then X-Ray, and if you have a positive ppd, many insurances would cover it.

Hello, I've an appointment for medical examination this week. But i'm worried about the TB test.

Earlier 1 year back during the regular checkups my doctor advised me to take the TB skin test and was tested Positive and got the treatment per his advice. He told me if i get tested in future i'll still test +ve.

Do i need to provide documentation for this? How to proceed?

Any advice is appreciated for this.

Try getting the test I have mentioned in the previous post. It is not susceptible to the tuberculin sensitization.
Does anyone of you know the number of days rule between the date of Medical report issued by the AOS doctor and date of I485 filing? If yes, then please site the reference link from USCIS,

I had my medical done on Apr/27/2007 and I am eligible to file for AOS from Jul/01/2007. Is this report valid?

Thanks!

TB and 485 filing

I was diagnosed with TB about seven years back in India. I took medication for about 6 months and was cleared. But like someone else also pointed out, even when you get cleared, the scars will still appear on your X-ray.
As I am from India and had the BCG vaccine, chances are that my skin test will come positive and I will be sent for X-ray. Then, the X-ray will also probably show some scars.

Can anyone, please, advise on what should be done in such cases? I am planning to meet one of the doctors whose reports are acceptable to USCIS explain the situation to him/her, and ask what is the best way to proceed? Maybe ask him for a but QuantiFERON-TB Gold test?

Does that sound like a good approach? any other suggestions?

Thanks much
M

Medicals are valid for a period of 1 year. So your medical report from April 2007 can be used now to file for 485, as long as its from a USCIS approved doctor.
