Hello All,

I still have some time before applying for the natz. I figured I'd get the tax transcripts when I have some time...on my hands...

However, which kind of tax transcripts would suffice? (4506T shows the following types of transcripts...- I am confused which one to get)

1) Account Transcript
2) Record of Account
3) Return Transcript

Please advise.

Cheers,

Even tho' the USCIS sometimes suggest they might want 5-year records, the IRS do only offer 3.

Also, make sure you apply early. I asked for mine well over a month ago and am still waiting. My interview is on Wednesday so it might be too late. Ah well ......

This is odd because most posts on this site suggested they might show up in 1-2 weeks. However, it is tax time !!!!!!

I have GC since 1997 i received 3 years transcripts from IRS but will be carrying last 10 years copies of returns to the interview

How did you order the tax transcripts? Any phone number or on-line request?
thanks.

Request transcripts by calling 1-800-829-1040, or order by mail using IRS Form 4506T If you want photocopy.Fill out form 4506T and mail it in.There is a charge of 39$ per year and can take upto 60days.If you just want regular transcript it is free and accepted by all gov offices.
Call 1-800-829-1040 Option 2/2/Enter SSN/3/Street address for you current address/1/year eg 2006/ 1 to accept/1 again to confirm/Option 2 for another year/1 to accept/ 1 to confirm.You can ask upto 5 yrs.:)Good luck all

In lieu of the transcripts, if they do not show up on time, I am taking the last five years returns to my interview.

I called and went through your options. While entering the year, I must have made some mistake. The call went to a lady who verified my information and said she would mail the transcripts. She was very polite and helpful. I have never ever called USCIS and hope I don't have to do so, based on the horrifying feedback on this forum.

thanks once again for your detailed feedback. I will update when I do receive the transcripts in order to track the delivery time for the benefit of others who might use this service in the future.

Its been 3-4 weeks since my request for tax transcripts. Nothing yet.....

Did you ask for all 3 of these? Then it woould take a while. Return transcript is availble right away and for the most, is the only thing you need.

Return Transcript is all you need.Follow the steps mentioned in my prevouis and it will take you there.Mostly is automated.I think it is security feature if they pick up the phone.Just to make sure no one other than the individual person is calling. Not on behave of someone.Than they make you mail in noterise affidavite.:o

Tax Transcript is all you need. Its free from IRS. I was able to request last 5 year's transcripts ( 2001 thru 2005 Tax year ) at no charge. They all arrived on same day in the mail within 10 days. IO never asked for it during interview, but its always a good idea to have them. You never know.

I wonder why needed to collect so much stuff. I brought only passport, GC, picture and the letter.

98% of people are processed without needing extra documents, but the answer to your question is simply a matter of whether you feel comfortable being sent away with an RFE or would rather produce a document while still in the interview room.

Hi, guys,

My wife and I filed joint tax return for the last several years. Both of us are going to apply for the Citizenship. does the tax return transcript show the information for a couple or only for one person? I was just wondering if both of us need to request the transcript. Thanks
