Just got my I-751 approved, I will apply for citizenship in roughly 3 months.
Do you know when my tax transcripts for 2008 will be available?
I filed my 1040EZ in early February but since I had to pay a huge amount, I sent them the check a few days before April 15.
Also, what's the fastest and easiest way to obtain the transcripts (I need 06,07 and 08) and roughly how long will it take?

Thanks

Call the IRS directly. Your transcripts for 2008 will be ready now. It will take 3 weeks to be delivered to your mailbox.

If you owed money, then there is a good chance that your return may not have been processed through the IRS system yet. The IRS people that I have spoken to say that they process the refund returns first (since they are more likely to get people calling asking where is their refund.)

The IRS will take the money out of your account and hold it as a 'credit' until they actually process the return.

So don't be surprised if the transcript is not available yet. The last person that I spoke to said they usually have them processed within a month or two of Apr 15.

But with every large govt agency, mileage may vary and always best to call.

I owe money on my 2008 returns. But i called them and they faxed them to me immediately. Should not be an issue regardless of whether you owe money or not.

I owed money and I paid just before April 15 of course.
But I did file electronically in early February, therefore there should not be a problem.
Does the transcript reflect payments also?

I filed for a 2008 extension, don't owe any money but just couldn't get it done on time. I expect to have them completed by end of next week. Do you think I'll have a problem with that? My interview is on the 27th, would I be able to get 2008 tax transcript?
