Tax transcripts for the interview

I have my citizenship interview coming up soon. I understand we need the Tax transcripts for the last 3 years (or preferably 5 years) that can be requested by calling the 800 number on the interview letter.

But these are the Federal tax transcripts? How about the state taxes? Do they need those as well? If so, how can I get them for the state of NJ.

Thank you!

You are not required to take tax transcripts, but it is possible you may be asked for them during interview, so having them available is recommended. USCIS doesn't seem to care much about state taxes, so no need to do anything special there.

As boatbod said, tax transcripts are not mandatory documents that need to be taken. However, there have been cases where the IO asked for them. This is particularly true for those who have had long stays outside of the country during the past 5 years. Regarding state tax, just take copies of your "tax returns". BTW, I have never heard IOs asking for state tax filing proofs. But having copies of state tax return will give you extra peace of mind.

Fed/State not Req. FED Highly Recommended

Fed/State not Req. FED Highly Recommended. Federal Income Tax + W2s or TAX Transcripts. One of the two options suufice the purposed when asked. You may request through phone. But it could take upto 2 wks. Or you may walk in to a local IRS office for a print out of Transcripts. You could get the transcripts on the same day.
