Tax Return Transcript for Interview

dial 1-800-829-1040 then press 2, 2 again, then you will need to enter ssn (and confirm) and then dial 3 (for transcript of account) and enter the year for which u need them (example 2004), this will transfer you to a customer sevice rep. You will probably have a wait for 10-15 mins before speaking to the representative. You can then ask her for tax returns of last 5 yrs.
 
ok, so I got the tax transcripts by mail for 2006, 2005, and 2004.
For 2003 and 2002 the irs letter says "tax return transcripts are only available for the current and three prior processing years".

So my question is, is that it? I mean if the irs (government agency) is telling me that they only give you tax transcripts for the past 3 years should I do anything else to try and get transcripts for anything older than 3 years?
 
Suresh...I got my copies mailed to me from the IRS for 2002,2003,2004,2005 and 2006 through the phone.
That was 3 months ago...

Hi ProudPal,

How did you ask for it? Did ask them for "tax transcripts"? Was it free?
I will call them again and specifically ask for 2002 and 2003.
